Brown rat infestations carry serious health risks and property damage. Our council-approved 3-visit programme eliminates the problem and helps prevent its return.

The brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) is the most common rat species in the UK. Highly adaptable and opportunistic, brown rats thrive in the urban and suburban environments of Medway β particularly near rivers, drains, sewers and residential gardens. They are excellent swimmers and burrowers, and can enter buildings through gaps as small as 15mm.
In Medway's older housing stock and areas close to the River Medway, rat pressure is a persistent challenge. Our technicians know the local hotspots and can quickly identify entry points and routes that less experienced operators might miss.
Rats are not simply a nuisance β they pose genuine risks to health, property and safety. Brown rats are known carriers of Weil's disease (Leptospirosis), Salmonella, and other pathogens. They contaminate food and food preparation surfaces with droppings, urine and fur, and can spread disease through contact with water contaminated with their urine β a particular risk near the River Medway.
Rats gnaw constantly to wear down their ever-growing incisor teeth. This means they will chew through electrical cables (a serious fire risk), water pipes, structural timbers, insulation and virtually anything else in their path. A single pair of rats can produce up to 200 offspring in a year β infestations escalate rapidly without professional intervention.
2-Visit Baiting Programme β Β£195 + VAT. Our standard rat treatment includes a survey, bait station placement with rodenticide, and a follow-up visit to monitor activity, replenish bait and remove any casualties. Further visits are charged at Β£75 + VAT if required.
Visit 1 β Survey & Bait Placement: Your technician will carry out a full survey of the affected areas, identify entry points and runs, place tamper-resistant bait stations in appropriate locations, and advise you on proofing measures to prevent re-entry.
Visit 2 β Second Monitoring & Follow-Up: We return to assess bait uptake, replenish where necessary, remove any casualties safely, and confirm whether the infestation has been resolved. We'll advise on any remaining risks and prevention measures.
Additional Visits: If the infestation requires further treatment beyond the 3-visit programme, we will discuss this with you in advance. Additional visits are charged at Β£75 + VAT per visit.
Our technicians will always provide tailored prevention advice at the end of your treatment. Common measures include sealing entry points (rats can squeeze through gaps of 15mm), securing compost bins and removing food waste promptly, eliminating garden harbourage (wood piles, dense undergrowth), and keeping drains in good repair. Preventing re-infestation is as important as eliminating the current problem.
